 Indianapolis is an outstanding community that is recognized as a great place to work and live.  Hailed as the 12th largest city in America and home to a diverse population, the city attracts millions of visitors annually.  Indianapolis is proud to offer it's citizen's a world class Fire Department.  IFD with over 150 years of proud tradition, is made up of men and women with diverse cultural backgrounds, each who have taken the oath to protect and serve the citizen's of Indianapolis.

     Indianapolis Firefighters work closely with the residents and businesses through fire prevention and safety education programs to make their city as safe as possible. The Indianapolis Fire Department is made up of over 1145 sworn members and a 85 member civilian support team.  The IFD fire service district covers 230 square miles of downtown Indianapolis and surrounding areas.
