The Department of Public Safety Consists of the Following Divisions:
These divisions emphasize the safety of the citizenry. During the past few years, the department has shifted from a response-based mode of operations towards a more proactive approach to public safety. These proactive efforts require creating community partnerships. Specifically, the Indianapolis Fire Department is stepping up fire safety education and neighborhood smoke alarm distribution. All areas of the department are increasing their participation in community events.
