Vote by Mail Information
To absentee vote by mail, you can request an application from the Marion County Election Board or download an Application for Absentee Ballot online. Absentee ballot requests must be submitted in every election; applications are not kept on file for civilian voters. When you have completed and returned the application, a ballot will be mailed to you once they are legally available.
The deadline to submit an application to vote by mail for the November 2010 general is midnight, Monday, October 25. Deadline to return an absentee ballot is Election Day, Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Applications and ballots postmarked by their deadline but received by the Election Board after the deadline cannot be processed.
The qualifications for receiving an absentee ballot by mail are:
- I have a specific, reasonable expectation of being absent from the county on election day during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.
- I am a voter with disabilities.
- I am a voter at least 65 years of age.
- I will have official election duties outside of my voting precinct.
- I am a voter eligible to vote under the “fail-safe” procedures in IC 3-10-11 or 3-10-12.
- I am scheduled to work at my regular place of employment during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.
- I will be confined to my residence, a health care facility, or a hospital due to illness or injury during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.
- I will be caring for an individual confined to a private residence due to illness or injury during the entire 12 hours that the polls are open.
- I am unable to vote at the polls in person due to observance of a religious discipline or religious holiday during the entire 12 hours the polls are open.
- I am an address confidentiality program participant in the program administered by the Indiana Attorney General under IC 5-26.5-1-6.
- I am a member of the military or public safety officer.

Traveling Board
To absentee vote by traveling board, you must request an absentee ballot application from the Marion County Election Board and choose Option "C." Upon receipt of your application, the Election Board will contact you to schedule a time for a bi-parisan traveling board team to visit your residence.
Deadline to submit an application for traveling board is noon, Monday, November 1.

Early Voting
Any Marion County voter can choose to vote early in the Clerk's office. Traditionally, early voting begins 29 days before any election. Voters must complete an absentee ballot application onsite and present it along with a valid, photo ID card issued by the state of Indiana or federal government. When the application is approved, voters are given a ballot to complete. The ballot is sealed in an envelope and delivered to their precinct on Election Day.

Ends: Monday, November 1 (at noon)
Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday (November 1 voting ends at NOON)
Satellite Locations
It has not yet been determined if the county will open satellite early voting sites for the 2010 General Election.
