Section Corner Information and Downloads

Since 1991 the Marion County Surveyor has determined precise State Plane coordinates of section corners and aerial photography control points, utilizing Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite technology.

The naming convention for section corners in Marion County is:

 

  Coordinates are available in Indiana State Plane, East Zone 1301 (NAD83, NAVD88) meters, International Feet, and US Survey Feet. 

US Survey and International Foot Translation Table

 US Survey foot  1 inch = 2.540005 cm  1 meter = 39.37 in exactly
 Int'l foot 1 inch = 2.54 cm exactly 1 meter = 39.370078 in 

To get US Survey feet from meters, multiply meters x 3.280833333

To get International feet from meters, multiply meters x 3.280839895
