  • January 21st, 2003:  Time Warner cable will host the Cable Franchise Board meeting.
  • February 19, 2002:  As a service to the public and to interested cities; the Cable Agency, by permission of CityNet's legal counsel, have included CityNet's Fiber Optic franchise agreement(Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader)  with the City of Indianapolis.
  • May 11, 2001:  Multichannel News reports Ameritech's cable subsidiary, Ameritech New Media, to be acquired by WOW (Wide Open West).
  • August 28, 2000: The Indianapolis City-County Council approves two new cable competitors for the City as well as approves the transfer of Time Warner Cable to America On Line (AOL).
  • August 26, 2000: Indianapolis Star article previews  Monday's City-County Council vote on cable competition.
  • August 9, 2000: Indianapolis Star article/DBS offers local channels.   Comcast & Time Warner react.
  • August 2, 2000: Star News article Cable TV offerings may soon expand.
  • July 13, 2000: The American On-Line/Time Warner Cable transfer will be discussed under Old Business at the July 17 Cable Franchise Board meeting in Room 260 at 2:30pm in the City-County Building.  The public is invited to comment on the pending transfer.
  • March 20, 2000: The Indianapolis City-County Council unanimously approved the transfer of Time Warner Cable locally to that of Comcast. 
  • March 14, 2000: Flashcom Inc., of Huntington Beach, CA announces entering Indianapolis' high speed Internet access market and will compete with Comcast and others.  Read Indianapolis Star article.
  • February 24, 2000:  Ameritech announces plans to compete with Comcast in the area of high speed Internet service.  Read Indianapolis Star article.
  • February 15, 2000:  The Indianapolis Star has articles on potential competition coming to cable TV in Central Indiana
  • February 2, 2000:  The Cable TV Franchise Board of Marion County will hold a public hearing on Monday, February 14 in Room 260 of the City-County Building regarding the proposed transfer of Time Warner Cable to Comcast. 
  • November 15, 1999: Government TV 2 Launches
    Government and Community Affairs Programming previously shown on Channel 16 is now airing without pre-emptions on the NEW Government TV 2 (Comcast Channel 28, Time/Warner Channel 23).  This includes public safety programs, including IPD in Your Community, Indiana State Police, Navy/Marine Corps News and Air Force Television News.  WCTY/Channel 16 will now air meeting coverage full-time, both live and tape delayed.  Click here to view programming schedules for both channels.
  • October 14, 1999:  FCC releases order to approve SBC/Ameritech takeover.
  • July 1, 1999:  Indiana House Bill 1064 regarding limits on late fees imposed by cable operators.
  • March 31, 1999:  FCC Chairman William Kennard announces CABLE CONSUMER BILL OF RIGHTS.
  • March 31, 1999: Regulation for expanded services tier ends. 
  • March 31, 1999:  NATOA 98 Conference Summary.  Conference for the National Association of Telecommunications Officers & Advisors was held the second week of September.
