Briane M. House – President/Chairman

 

Briane M. House is an honors graduate of Wabash College and the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis. He has been in active practice in Indiana since 1982 and is currently Of-Counsel with the law firm of Norris Choplin & Schroeder in Indianapolis. In the course of his career he has represented numerous governmental entities as well as elected and appointed officials. He served for ten years as a member of the Common Council for the City of Greenfield (appointed to complete a term and elected to two terms) and also chaired the Greenfield Redevelopment Commission during a period of extraordinary growth and development. While he was a resident of Hancock County he was counsel to both the Hancock County Planning Commission and the Hancock County Board of Zoning Appeals. He also served as the Common Council’s appointment to the Greenfield Planning Commission. During his years as an elected official he was an active member in the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns. He has written and lectured on topics concerning Indiana’s Open Door law, Access to Public Records Act, human resources issues, regulatory compliance and corporate governance in an area of heightened scrutiny and a demand for greater transparency.

 

While in corporate practice for twelve years he represented the interests of one of Indiana’s largest public utilities in various matters involving the City of Indianapolis which include the relocation of the NCAA national headquarters. As counsel for ProLiance Energy he worked with a team of lawyers structuring a significant gas purchase transaction with the Indiana Bond Bank and the Indiana Municipal Gas Authority.

 

Politically active House also served as a member of the Republican State Central Committee and as the Republican Party Chair for Hancock County. Most recently he served as legal counsel for the Executive Committee of the transition team of Indianapolis Mayor Ballard and also assisted in the comprehensive review of the Indianapolis Office of Corporation Counsel.

 

He and his wife Michele live in Warren Township.
