MISSION:
The mission of the Department of Code Enforcement (DCE) is to improve the quality of life in the City of Indianapolis through strategic application of civil code regulation; effective licensing, permitting, inspection, enforcement, and abatement practices; and local government oversight of property use/safety and maintenance, business, event, professional, and construction industries.

We look forward to serving you as we continue to make Indianapolis one of the most sustainable, livable, safe cities in the Midwest.

WHAT'S NEW    

 
The Department of Code Enforcement Board will meet on Thursday, May 23rd at 3:00 P.M. in the Vonnegut Conference Room. Agenda is

DCE offering extended hours on Wednesday, May 29th and Wednesday, July 3rd. The lobby will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on those days.

CONTRACTOR LICENSING INFORMATION - Did you know that contractors must be licensed and secure required permits to perform any work? If you hire an unlicensed contractors, you will be responsible for costly repairs or held liable for personal injury or property damage. If you suspect an unlicensed contractor or non-permitted work, call the Mayor's Action Center. Check out this PSA for more details or view a list of currently licensed contractors.

 

LICENSE INFORMATION FOR TOBACCO SPECIALTY BARS
The City's Smoking Ordinance will become effective June 1, 2012.  DCE will license businesses that qualify as an exempt Tobacco Specialty Bar.  Click here for details and application forms.  Click here to view a summary of what businesses will be impacted.

 

TENTS AND TEMPORARY STRUCTURES
