Project Description
The Shelby Street Corridor Plan was prepared to conserve and enhance existing community assets and to promote beneficial growth. The process involved stakeholders in shaping goals, objectives and strategies for the corridor. The process enhanced citizen participation in community development and provided citizens with a sense of ownership and civic pride. The plan was adopted on December 3, 2008 as a segment of the Indianapolis/Marion County Comprehensive Plan. The plan will serve as a guide for land use and zoning decisions and public and private improvements in the corridor.
Location
The focus of the process is the Shelby Street corridor from Troy Avenue on the north to its intersection with Madison Avenue and I-465 on the south. A small section of Hanna Avenue between Shelby Street and Madison Avenue is included in this study area.
