Be an Indy Parks Volunteer!

We are proud of the many quality sports programs, activities, arts and special events we offer to the community each year.

But these programs and services could not happen without the help of the hundreds of people who have decided to donate their time as volunteers for Indy Parks. Our staff needs people like you to help meet the increasing recreational needs of a growing Indianapolis population.

You can be sure your contribution to Indy Parks will impact the entire Marion County community.

As we continue to expand our programming to meet the growing and changing needs of the city, the more we need help from people like you: people who have the desire to help others, to participate in your community.

There are so many different ways for you, your family, or organization to get involved with Indy Parks.  You can enjoy the outdoors as a trail monitor at one of our nature centers; or, you can work with kids at one of our many day camps or school outreach programs.

Other potential volunteer positions include:  sports coach or referee, assistant to special needs programs or senior programs, Conservatory attendant, or a docent for our many "summer arts in the parks" concerts and performances.

All prospective volunteers must complete a volunteer enrollment form and a criminal background check and release form. Then, a background check is conducted, and you have an interview with a park manager or volunteer coordinator.

Following a successful application process, we will work to place you in a setting best-suited to your needs and talents where you can be sure to have an exciting and a rewarding experience with Indy Parks.
It's that easy!

Volunteering with youth may touch that young person's life and make a positive difference. It is a constructive way to make a small difference in the world but a large difference in a community or in the life of an individual.

So you can see, it's easy to find something to match your interests and your time commitment.  Volunteer for a one-time clean up effort, or special event. Or volunteer as part of an ongoing event or family center…the experience is what you put in to it, and we appreciate your time!

If you have additional questions, or if you're ready to begin volunteering, please contact your local park manager or call Indy Parks' Volunteer Coordinator, at 327-7036.
