Volunteer Coffee Talk, 8:30am at the Earth Discovery Center. Join us at the Earth Discovery Center on the first Wednesday of every month for a natural history presentation by park staff, volunteers, or guest speakers. Also a great chance to meet Eagle Creek Park volunteers and learn more about volunteer opportunities at the park! Free with park admission.

Story Time on the Reservoir - "Groundhog at Evergreen Road," 9:30am at the Earth Discovery Center. After reading a nature-themed story, participants will visit stations at their own pace. Stations will vary from week to week but may include puppets, coloring pages, games, artifacts, or additional books. If  the weather is too cold or windy, we will meet in the nature center. Free with park admission.

Feb 3 (Fri) 

Free Friday Activity:  Bird Feeder Craft, 4pm at the Ornithology Center. Learn how to make a bird feeder out of everyday homemade ingredients! Free with park admission.

Feb 8 (Wed) 

Backyard Birds, 4pm at the Ornithology Center. Watch the bird feeders and learn how to feed your backyard birds through the winter. Free with park admission.

Story Time on the Reservoir - "Stranger in the Woods," 9:30am at the Earth Discovery Center. After reading a nature-themed story, participants will visit stations at their own pace. Free Friday Activity:  Woodpecker Watch, 4pm at the Ornithology Center. Watch the bird feeders for these unique birds and learn how to attract them to your own yard! Free with park admission.

Feb 11 (Sat)

Coffee & Canvas, 10am-12:30pm at the Ornithology Center. Fresh shade-grown coffee (and other beverages) and a step-by-step art class where you will create a beautiful winter bird painting to take home. A little nervous to paint? Don't worry! No talent or experience is necessary. Little Ducklings (Backyard Birds), 10:30-11:30am at the Ornithology Center. A new topic will be introduced each class through hands-on activities, hikes, stories, and take-home ideas for continuing the exploration at home. Sign up for an individual class or multiple!  Ages 3-5 with adult. Feb 17 (Fri) 

Free Friday Activity:  DIY Peanut Butter Suet, 4pm at the Ornithology Center. Learn how to make your very own “bark butter” to attract and feed birds in your backyard! Free with park admission.

Feb 18 & 19 (Sat, Sun) 

Great Backyard Bird Count, Sat 10-10:30am & 2-2:30pm; Sun 2-2:30pm at the Ornithology Center. Count the birds we can see from the reservoir and bird feeder rooms and learn about ways you can attract birds to your backyard. No birding experience required! The GBBC is a nearly-twenty-year-old citizen science program run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society where bird watchers of all ages create a real-time snapshot of where birds are all over the world!

Friday Night Hoots, 5:30-7pm at the Ornithology Center. It may be cold outside, but that means the owls are becoming more active! See owls up close and take a hike into the night to discover the owls of Eagle Creek! Bring a flashlight! Volunteer Coffee Talk "Gardening in 1816", 8:30am at the Earth Discovery Center.  Presented by Colletta Kosiba, Indiana Advanced Master Gardener and Master Naturalist and Eagle Creek Park Volunteer.  In honor of Indiana's recent bicentennial, Colletta will take you back in time to when a garden provided most of the foods, herbs for flavorings, and medicines for the family. Free with park admission, public welcome.

Oasis - Animal Foolery, 2pm-3pm at the Earth Discovery Center.  Bring your grandchildren and join us this spring break as we investigate some of these nature myths to discover fact from fiction. Can a toad give you warts? Are owls wise? Do flying squirrels actually fly? Are daddy longlegs really super venomous? We will spend a short time indoors and then hope to hit the trails as long as the weather allows. Please come dressed for the trail. Learn Your Birds: Intro to Birdwatching, 8:30am-10am at the Ornithology Center. Each Saturday we will learn how to identify a new group of birds and then one of our ornithologists will lead a hike on the trails. Join for a single Saturday ($3 per hike) or sign up for the entire series ($25). Young and old, experienced and new birders, all are welcome!​ Children under 10 are FREE if accompanied by a paying adult. Bring bright flashlights, wear old shoes/boots, and a rain jacket if raining. Adults and all children age 3 and up must be registered. Arbor Day Celebration, 9:30am-4:30pm at the Earth Discovery Center.  Eagle Creek Park is planning a fun-filled day to celebrate Arbor Day! Various activities from hiking to games will be available throughout the day where participants will have fun learning about trees. Activities will be both indoors and outdoors so please come prepared for the weather. This event is free with park admission.
