Recurring Programs:

Saturdays Nature Discovery Class, 1:30pm at the Earth Discovery Center. Enjoy some nature fun at the Earth Discovery Center! Call 317-327-7148 for daily details. All ages, free with park admission.

Saturdays Raptor Feeding Time, Join a naturalist at the Ornithology Center to watch us feed one or more of our live birds of prey. Feeding will only take a few minutes so make sure not to be late! Please call ahead if you plan to bring a large group: 317-327-BIRD. All ages, free with park admission!

Sundays Sunday Morning Birdwalk, 9am-11am at the Ornithology Center. Join a group of new and experienced birders for a brisk morning bird walk! Meets every Sunday morning, rain or shine. The walk is not geared specifically toward children, but they are welcome to attend. Free with park admission. 

Sundays Feeding Time, 1:30pm at the Earth Discovery Center. Watch as our educational reptiles, amphibians and other critters enjoy their lunch! All ages, free with park admission.

Sundays Meet A Raptor, 2:30-3pm at the Ornithology Center. Join a naturalist to discover the world of raptors! You will meet one (or more!) of our special live birds of prey (hawks, owls, and vultures) and learn about what makes them "raptors." All ages, free with park admission.

Jan 4 (Wed)

Volunteer Coffee Talk, 8:30am-9:30am at the Earth Discovery Center.   "Nature:  There's an App for That!"  Presenter:  Will Shaust, Assistant Manager of the Eagle Creek Ornithology Center.   There seems to be an ever growing gap between technology and the outdoors.  Richard Louv has blamed the use of screens for decreaswed outdoor time as well as increased diagnoses of ADHD.  This naturalist, however, believes there is a happy medium.  We will dive into the relationship between mobile technology sucha s smartphones, tables, and apps AND the great outdoors in an effort to enhance your outdoor experience.

Jan 5 (Thurs)

National Bird Day Celebration, 2pm-3pm at the Ornithology Center.  Celebrate National Bird Day by visiting the bird center at ECP! We will have games, crafts, hot shade-grown coffee, and hot chocolate as we watch for winter visitors at the bird feeders. Free with park admission.

Jan 6 (Fri)

Storytime on the Reservoir "I see Animals Hiding" 9:30am-10am at the Earth Discovery Center. We will be focusing on animal camouflage this week and we are very excited about the activities we have planned. Create some fun animal art, do an arctic habitat activity, search for camouflaged animals, see some live animals, and so much more. Since participants can move through the stations at their own pace, this program can accommodate a wide variety of ages, but it is most recommended for ages 2-6. This program is free with park admission and an adult must stay for the duration of the program. January Story Times will take place every Friday. In February, Story Time will take place on Thursdays. During the winter, this program will always take place in the Earth Discovery Center. 

Free Friday Activity:  "Snowy Owl Story Time" 4pm-4:30pm at the Ornithology Center.  Please call ahead if you plan to bring a large group; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  Free with park admission.

Jan 10 (Tues)

Bird Craft Corner, 3pm-5pm at the Ornithology Center. Stay out of the cold but still spend time in nature! Come to the Ornithology Center and discover the world of birds through crafts.Great activity for preschool and homeshool children, as well as the entire family!Come anytime during the alotted program time slot. Please call ahead if you plan to bring a large group; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  Free with park admission.

Jan 12 (Thurs)

Little Ducklings 10:30am-11:30am at the Ornithology Center. Learn easy ways to engage your preschooler in nature and encourage their curiosity in the natural world. A new topic will be introduced each class through hands-on activities, hikes, stories, and take-home ideas for continuing the exploration at home. Classes are designed for children ages 3-5 and their caregiver but younger and older siblings are welcome to attend and register. The child's caregiver must stay for the entire program but does not have to register!  $5/child, registration required at www.indyparks.org, course code #12007

Storytime on the Reservoir "The Mitten" 9:30am-10am at the Earth Discovery Center. One of Jan Brett's most popular books, "The Mitten," will be the focus of story time this week. We will play a matching game, use some stick masks to retell the story, practice some lacing skills, and much more.  Since participants can move through the stations at their own pace, this program can accommodate a wide variety of ages, but it is most recommended for ages 2-6. This program is free with park admission and an adult must stay for the duration of the program. January Story Times will take place every Friday. In February, Story Time will take place on Thursdays. During the winter, this program will always take place in the Earth Discovery Center.

Storytime on the Reservoir "I'll Always Be Your Friend" 9:30am-10am at the Earth Discovery Center. I'll Always Be Your Friend is a story of a young fox kit and his mother. We have a variety of fun activities planned for this program. After reading the story, you can play with stick puppets, do a "build a fox" activity, sort big things and little things, sing some songs, make a craft to take home, and more. There is so much to do!  Since participants can move through the stations at their own pace, this program can accommodate a wide variety of ages, but it is most recommended for ages 2-6. This program is free with park admission and an adult must stay for the duration of the program. January Story Times will take place every Friday. In February, Story Time will take place on Thursdays. During the winter, this program will always take place in the Earth Discovery Center. ​

Free Friday Activity:  "Owl Prowl", 4pm-4:30pm at the Ornithology Center.  Meet one of our live owls and learn about what makes them such amazing nocturnal hunters! Please call ahead if you plan to bring a large group; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.  Free with park admission.

Winter Gardening, 3:30pm-4:30pm at the Earth Discovery Center.  Are you missing your garden? Believe it or not, winter is the perfect time to prepare many of our native plant seeds for germination in the spring! Learn the simple art of winter sowing, and take home some milkweed seeds and other beneficial native plant seeds!​  $5/person, pre-register at www.indyparks.org course code #11942

Friday Night Hoots, 5pm - 6:30pm at the Ornithology Center. It may be cold outside, but that means the owls are becoming more active! See owls up close and take a hike into the night to discover the owls of Eagle Creek! Bring a flashlight! Children under 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult; Bring a flashlight! $8/person, pre-registration required at
