Learn Your Birds: Intro to Birdwatching, 8:30am-10am at the Ornithology Center. Each Saturday we will learn how to identify a new group of birds and then one of our ornithologists will lead a hike on the trails. Join for a single Saturday ($3 per hike) or sign up for the entire series ($25). Young and old, experienced and new birders, all are welcome!​ Children under 10 are FREE if accompanied by a paying adult. Children under 18 must be accompanied during the entire program. Binoculars provided. Meets every Saturday during April and May: 8:30-10:00 am. Pre-registration encouraged, but drop-ins welcome!​  Pre-register at www.indyparks.org (course code #12092) or call 317-327-2473.

Friday Night FrogWatch, 8:30pm-10:00pm at the Earth Discovery Center.  Learn about frogs and frog calls, and visit a pond to search for the frogs themselves! Bring bright flashlights, wear old shoes/boots, and a rain jacket if raining. Adults and all children age 3 and up must be registered. A new topic will be introduced each class through hands-on activities, hikes, stories, and take-home ideas for continuing the exploration at home. Arbor Day Celebration, 9:30am-4:30pm at the Earth Discovery Center.  Eagle Creek Park is planning a fun-filled day to celebrate Arbor Day! Various activities from hiking to games will be available throughout the day where participants will have fun learning about trees. Activities will be both indoors and outdoors so please come prepared for the weather. This event is free with park admission.

Star Gazing at Eagle's Crest9pm-11pm at Eagle's Crest Soccer Fields.  The night sky is full of wonders! Get acquainted with constellations, planets, and other astronomical objects. Drop in any time during the program to enjoy the stars; members of the Indiana Astronomical Society will be on hand with telescopes to get an even closer view of night sky objects. Program takes place on the west side of Eagle Creek Reservoir at the Eagle's Crest soccer fields, 7201 Fishback Rd. Check the Eagle Creek Park Facebook Page or call 317-327-7148 for updates - we may cancel due to rain or heavy cloud cover. Free, no registration required.​

International Migratory Bird Day, 10am-4pm at the Ornithology Center.   To celebrate International Migratory Bird Day, each year the Ornithology Center has an exciting day full of fun, FREE activities for all ages including crafts, games, hikes, live raptor shows, feeder watches, and more! Keep an eye on our facebook page (facebook.com/Ornithology.Center) for more details as we get closer to this special, once-a-year event!​

Coffee & Canvas Mini Session, 10am-11am at the Ornithology Center.  Join the Migratory Bird Day Festival at the Ornithology Center for a Coffee & Canvas Mini painting session. We will have fresh shade-grown coffee (and other warm beverages) and a step-by-step art class where you will create a mini spring bird painting to take home. A little nervous to paint? Don't worry! No talent or experience is necessary. The program fee includes park admission and all art supplies (canvas, acrylic paint, and brushes).​  $10/person, ages 15+, ages 18 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult.  Register at indyparks.org with course code 12428 or call 317-327-2473.

Eagle Creek Park Foundation Fishing Derby Every year, the Foundation hosts a free Kids Fishing Derby on the first Saturday of June, which falls on one of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources designated free-fishing days.​

This particular day allows Indiana residents to fish in the reservoir without a license or a trout/salmon stamp. We welcome children ages 4-14 to participate along with families and larger youth or church groups, at no cost. All children must be supervised by an adult or group leader, registration required at​
