Park History

Broad Ripple Park (est. 1946) borders the White River and has a rich history in the community. In the past, this site has been the home of an amusement park, carousel (now at the Indianapolis Children's Museum), a steam locomotive (now at the Transportation Museum in Noblesville), and it was the location of the Olympic tryouts for swimming in 1924, and 1952.

Family Center Programs

The park offers a wide variety of programs and activities for all ages. Programs are generally fee-based, and registration is usually required.

FAQs
What do I need to do to get a dog park pass?
Come to the family center office and bring a hard copy of your dog's shot records showing current inoculations against Rabies, Parvo, Distemper, and Bordetella. Fill out the application, sign the waiver, and pay the appropriate fees. Passes are sold on a calendar year basis. You can purchase an annual pass or a daily pass.

When is your pool open to the public?
The Broad Ripple Park Pool is a seasonal swimming pool scheduled to open May 25 and scheduled to close August 4, 2013. Regular season hours are Monday - Saturday 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday Noon - 6 p.m.

What are the fees for admittance to the pool?
Daily admissions are $2 for kids 3 – 17 years of age and $3 for adults. Children two and under are free. Seniors 55 and older are $2. You must pay to enter the pool whether you swim or not.

Do I have to rent the shelters and the picnic knoll ahead of time, or can I just show up and try and claim the location I want?
Park amenities are 'first come, first served' unless rented out ahead of time. Beginning in May through the end of October the shelters and the picnic knoll are typically rented out every weekend. We start taking shelter reservations for the year on the first business day in January. All amenities rent for the day. There are fees involved depending on the amenity that is rented. Signs are posted inside the display board by each amenity indicating if it is rented for the day or not.
