Description

Brookside Park (est.1898) is 108 acres of rolling wooded greenspace located less than five minutes from downtown Indianapolis. There are numerous recreational opportunities available within the park boundaries that will appeal to all ages and walks of life.

The heart of Brookside Park is the 20,000 square foot Family Center, which was built in 1928.  The Family Center is an architectural delight with intricate design and appearance. The Family Center is home to numerous programs and activities aimed at both youth and adults, and has become a popular choice for many family reunions, anniversary events, and wedding receptions year round. Most programs in the park are focused toward the youth of the community, which include athletic and educational programs.

FAQ's/Tips
How do I secure a rental of the facility or a picnic pavilion?
All rentals must be made with park staff ahead of time. Full payment for the pavilions is required to reserve it, and 50% of the balance is due at the time of booking for all other areas of the park.  Also, reservations may be made on the phone by calling 317-327-PARK, and using a credit card. If you are looking for a reservation for a summer outing, it is best to call several months ahead of time. Most pavilions  and building rentals book in the late winter and early spring.

When is the Aquatic Center open?
The Brookside Family Aquatic Center opens yearly on Memorial Day weekend, and closes around the 3rd weekend of August. The pool is open Monday through Saturday from 12pm- 5 pm, and on Sundays from 1pm- 4pm.  See our aquatics link to the right for more information.

What programs are offered in Brookside Park, and what are the charges?

One of Brookside Park's newest programs is the After-School Program, provided by Indy Parks School Outreach.  This program takes place during the hours of 4:30pm - 7pm throughout the academic school year and is free of cost.  It is geared for children in grades 1st through 7th.  Children take place in a variety of activities that include homework assistance and tutoring, arts and crafts, and sports and recreation activities.  They also get the chance to be involved in other programs that key on life skills like health and nutrition, and drug awareness.  Participants are also given a healthy snack before the evening is done.

Most other programs offered in the park are focused toward the youth of the community, although there is some senior programming and adult programming as well. Programming at Brookside Park consists of athletics, arts and crafts, and spiritual based. Programs are provided at a minimal cost, and vary depending on the program.  Please contact Park staff for details.
