DescriptionFormerly known as the Krannert YMCA, Krannert Family Center became a part of Indy Parks and Recreation in 1972. The park offers fun and exercise from a variety of programs and activities. The park has a year round indoor swimming facility and a seasonal Outdoor Aquatic Center to serve all ages and needs. For those in need of a serene nature escape, the partially wooded area with a pond and trails provide a nice setting for a relaxing visit. Even if you are not a swimmer or nature lover, there are plenty of programs sure to meet your interests.
Family Center ProgramsWe are currently registering for all of our winter and spring programs. Registration for summer day camp begins on January 30th. Make sure to check out a whole line up of fun and active programs including "Music and Movement," "Sports of All Sorts," "Sensory Play," and special one day programs for Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Spring, and Mother's Day (Seasonal Celebrations)! We will also be offering tumbling, swim lessons, dance, martial arts, gymnastics, swim team, and more!
New Programs!!We are offering "Home School Drama Club" starting mid-January on Thursday mornings for ages 5-13 years. This class will be packed with fun and instructional tips on stage to page acting. Dressing up and having fun is definitely included! Contact us to register or for more information.
Aqua Zumba® classes are now happening at Krannert Indoor Pool on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm for only $3 per class! Known as the Zumba® "pool party," the Aqua Zumba program gives new meaning to the idea of an invigorating workout. Splashing, stretching, twisting, even shouting, laughing, hooting and hollering are often heard during an Aqua Zumba class. Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, the Aqua Zumba class blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based workout that's cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and most of all exhilarating beyond belief!
Krannert Weight RoomCheck out the weight room at Krannert! We have free weights, weight machines, a recumbent bike, an upright bike, treadmills, a stepper, an elliptical machine, and more. There are no memberships; you can pay a daily fee or purchase one of our affordable passes. You must be 18 years or older to use the weight room and wear proper workout attire.
Modern Western Square Dancing and Round Dancing This long established club is designed for the experienced dancers, mainstream, and plus. Club dances are held on the second and fourth Thursdays each month. Visitors are welcome. Friendship set to music. For more information call 241-7953 or 244-9913. Aqua Zumba
What other kinds of programs do you offer?Krannert Family Center has programs for all ages. Activities such as the weight room for adults and swim team for youth. There is also Senior Card Club (Euchre) for those 55+ and a Sewing Club for those that want to learn and share. There are swim lessons that are offered year round, gymnastics, karate, and tumbling, step aerobics, preschool programs and Day Camp.
