Description
Tolin-Akeman Park was acquired in 1989 and sits on 6 acres of land. The land had been in the Tolin family since 1895, and was donated to the city under the condition that it would always be used as a park. Earl Tolin was an educator in central Indiana for 48 years, and his son, Jerry Akeman, was an Indianapolis Police Department detective sergeant. Both men served the community throughout their public service careers.
