City shelter to host 1st Annual Open House


INDIANAPOLIS – The City of Indianapolis Animal Care & Control Division will host the
1st annual “Party with the Pets” Open House.

WHEN:   11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Saturday, September 28
  
WHERE:   Indianapolis Animal Care & Control
2600 S. Harding St.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the city shelter, including its location, services the division offers, as well as promote the adoption of hundreds of dogs and cats.

This fun, free family event will include:

  • Indianapolis unveiling of the United States Postal Service spay/neuter stamp with Mayor Bart Peterson, Public Safety Director Robert Turner and Indianapolis Postmaster John L. McEwen;
  • Lawn concert with special musical performance by Jennie DeVoe;
  • Canine demonstrations by the Indy Dog & Disc Club;
  • Raffle of baseballs autographed by Sammy Sosa and Ken Griffey, Jr., with certificates of authenticity;
  • Central Indiana Regional Bloodmobile;
  • Animal welfare and education information booths; and Much more.

The Animal Care & Control Division (ACCD) works in partnership with the community to address problems associated with pet over population, to promote responsible pet ownership and to enhance the health and safety of the community.
