MEDIA CHALLENGE - Spend time with a companion and get all of the free kisses you want


INDIANAPOLIS – Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a dog available for adoption at a shelter? How would it feel to have people look at you, talk to you and then wave goodbye? Well, now is your chance to find out. Spend some time in the cage with the dog of your choice and you’ll get all of the free kisses you want from your friendly companion at the same time. You can spend minutes or hours, the choice is yours.

The purpose of this media challenge is to bring awareness and understanding to the lifestyle of shelter pets, promote the importance of spaying and neutering your pets, as well as encourage the public to save a life and adopt a shelter pet.

Did you know:

  • There are between 8-10 million dogs and cats that enter shelters each year.
  • Approximately 4-5 million dogs and cats are euthanized each year.
  • In six years, one female dog and her offspring can be the source of 67,000 puppies. This is based on an average of 2 litters per year, 6-10 puppies per litter.
  • In ten years, two uncontrolled breeding cats can be the source of 80,399,780 cats. This is based on an average of 2 litters per year, 2-8 surviving kittens per litter and 10 years of breeding life.
