City animal shelter to receive donation for outstanding work


INDIANAPOLIS – Due to the tremendous effort made by Indianapolis Animal Care & Control to raise the awareness of animal related issues in and around the city of Indianapolis, a check will be presented to the shelter by Comcast® and Discovery Networks, during the Animal Planet Expo, for its outstanding work:

Animal Planet and Comcast® are teaming up to offer Animal Planet Expo — a fun and free event with activities the entire family can enjoy, including the pets! Animal Planet Expo, a mobile tour visiting 15 cities in 2004, is a one-of-a- kind family-oriented program that is both entertaining and informative. Comcast® and Discovery Networks, the parent company of Animal Planet, are the proud sponsors of Indianapolis Animal Care & Control who will have a booth at this exciting two-day event to promote the city shelter, provide animal welfare information as well as encourage the adoption of hundreds of wonderful shelter dogs and cats.

Animal Planet Expo is designed to educate and entertain consumers through interactive exhibits, family-friendly activities, special animal demonstrations and will also include a special guest appearance by Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald from Animal Planet’s “Emergency Vets.”

Animal Planet Expo will be held at Fort Harrison State Park on Saturday, July 31st and Sunday, August 1st from 10am-4pm.
