This station was formerly Washington Township FD Station #223. On January 1, 2007 the Washington Township FD merged with the Indianapolis Fire Department and this station became Indianapolis FD Station # 6. Currently, Engine # 6, Ladder # 6, Tactical Support Unit # 6, Tactical # 6 and Ambulance #6 respond from here.
