Motor Policeman William C. Mueller - Died March 2, 1928

Motor policeman William C. Mueller, veteran member of the Indianapolis police department, was killed on March 2, 1928. Muller and his partner, Jesse Giles, were investigating a hit-and-run accident at Wyoming and New Jersey Streets. The two were following the suspected perpetrator into an alley between Buchanan and Woodlawn Streets when Mueller suddenly fell backwards and died on the scene of embolus.

Born on January 10, 1872, Officer Mueller was appointed to the police force as a patrolman on January 3, 1912.  He was assigned as motor policeman on January 4, 1926. He served in that capacity until his death.

Mueller was survived by his wife and a stepson.  He is buried in Crown Hill cemetery.
