If you drive a vehicle owned by the City of Indianapolis or any of several other organizations in Marion County, you will in some way have contact with Fleet Services. For the city, we handle vehicle acquisition, maintenance, repair, and disposal. We also maintain several fueling sites around the city and issue the cards necessary to gain access to these sites.
Mayor Greg Ballard joined Tom C. Johnson of 100 Best Fleets and other fleet professionals from the Midwest as Indianapolis hosted its first regional municipal fleet conference. The conference, sponsored by 100 Best Fleets and Government Fleet Magazine, highlighted strategies for implementing best business practices among municipal fleets. Local sponsors included Ford Motor Company, Paul Harvey Ford, Team Cruiser and FastConnect. As part of the conference, Mayor Ballard was presented with an award honoring the Indianapolis Fleet Services Division as one of the 100 best fleets in North America.
