DPW Progress Report to the Public

As a part of the Indianapolis Combined Sewer​ Overflow Consent Decree, the City of Indianapolis has released the Indianapolis Department of Public Works Progress Report to the Public. The report summarizes key accomplishments of the sanitary sewer, storm water, transportation and SustainIndy programs since 2008. 

Highlights from the report:

  • Tax payer savings of $740 million on Indianapolis' Combined Sewer Overflow Decree
  • Resurfacing 467 lane miles of streets as part of the RebuildIndy program
  • Completing 5,000 Septic Tank Elimination Program connections
  • Awards and recognition from the U.S. Conference of Mayors and American Public Works Association
  • Incorporation of green infrastructure into sanitary, storm water and transportation projects​

Protecting Your Environment

The Department of Public Works monitors and protects the environment in Marion County with help from our residents and visitors. DPW responds to questions and concerns on a number of topics including, but not limited to, air and water pollution, open burning, illegal discharges, and water quality.

There will be NO trash, heavy trash, or curbside recycling service on Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day.
 
All residential trash, heavy trash and curbside recycling routes will run one day behind for the entire week. All services will return to normal schedules on Monday, June 4.
