DEPARTMENTUPDATES
UPDATED 2/9/17

TRAFFIC IMPROVEMENTS AND CHANGES ALONG FALL CREEK PARKWAY FROM 30TH STREET TO CENTRAL AVENUE

On January 13, 2017, the Central Avenue bridge over Fall Creek was closed as a safety precaution for both residents and pedestrians. Replacement of this bridge will begin this year and construction will be complete by 2018.

To decrease traffic congestion, the following changes were made:

-When headed westbound, the traffic signal located at the Central Ave and Fall Creek Parkway intersection will operate as a green light at all times.

- Traffic controls at Carrollton and Fall Creek Parkway will revert from, “X” to reversible lanes. All lane controls north of Carrollton and Fall Creek Parkway will revert to original lane control operations prior the Central Avenue closure.

- A dedicated left turn lane and left turn arrow at the traffic signal for motorists headed westbound on Fall Creek Parkway at College Avenue. This will allow drivers to turn left and proceed southbound on College Avenue.

- Increased barricades on Central Avenue at Fall Creek Parkway to improve safety.

-Detour signs on Fall Creek Parkway westbound from 30th Street denoting an upcoming left turn signal.

- Removal of existing pavement markings on Fall Creek Parkway at Central Avenue to eliminate left turn opportunities at the intersection.

- Additional pavement markings to allow two inbound lanes to proceed through the intersection of Fall Creek Parkway and Central Avenue.
