The Cans for Cash Challenge is the local program that the city of Indianapolis uses to participate in the U. S. Conference of Mayor's Cans for Cash Challenge. Cities all over the United States compete in population divisions to collect the most pounds of aluminum cans.

In the 2006 program, we recycled 114,781 lbs of aluminum cans, which is equivalent to 3,902,554 cans.

This year, with two more weeks added to the competition, 287,564 pounds of aluminum cans were recycled in Indianapolis, which is equivalent to 9,777,176 cans!
