Drop-Off Recycling
We can come to you... or you can come to us.
As you travel for shopping and errands, look for the large green Recycle Indianapolis 'Drop-Off' containers, placed in specific locations around our city. You can place your recyclable items into any of these containers at no charge. Just as in our curbside program, our drop-off sites accept glass, #1 & #2 plastics, aluminum, tin, and steel beverage and food cans, newspapers and magazines. But please, do not leave recyclables in plastic bags. Plastic bags contaminate the load and make it difficult for the people at the recycling facility to do their jobs. Empty your plastic bags and put them in the trash. Also, please DO NOT leave recyclables on the ground. If the site is full, you can call 327-4622 for the next closest site. Recycling left on the ground endangers the program by making it less attractive for property managers to provide space for our recycling containers.
CLEAN RECYCLABLES ARE HAPPY RECYCLABLES
Whether you recycle by curbside or drop-off, please help by properly preparing your recyclables:
Empty and rinse out jars, cans and bottles. This will eliminate odors, which can attract insects and animals.
Put newspaper and magazines in paper bags, such as grocery sacks, to keep them from being blown about in the wind.
Don't leave the items inside plastic bags. Plastic bags are not recyclable in the drop-off program.
