If you experience a sewage backup in your residence or business, immediately contact the Mayor's Action Center (MAC) at 327-4MAC. A township coordinator will physically inspect the city's sewer lines to determine whether the problem is the city's responsibly to resolve. Most often, the lateral line, which connects the residence/business to the city's sewer line, is clogged or is not in working condition. If this is the case, it is the property owner's responsibility to hire a private contractor to make all necessary repairs. However, occasionally the city's sewers do get blocked and may cause a sewer to backup in a private home or business. When that happens, the city will immediately make all necessary repairs.
