ToxDrop Household Hazardous Waste
Marion County residents are encouraged to visit a ToxDrop site to drop-off unwanted household hazardous waste (HHW) – or products used in the home that contain volatile chemicals that are ignitable, corrosive or toxic – free of charge.
Click here for a list of items accepted at a ToxDrop site. To help identify HHW in your home, look for words such as danger, warning, caution, poisonous and flammable on the label and be sure these items are safely stored. If a friend or neighbor can't use the product, bring it to a ToxDrop site year-round to ensure its proper disposal. Do NOT put HHW out with your regular trash or dump down kitchen sinks, in toilets or storm drains.
Please note that ToxDrop does NOT accept sharps, prescription medication, ammunition/explosives and radioactive materials. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has information on proper sharps disposal. The U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy has advice on proper disposal of prescription drugs.
While some materials brought to a ToxDrop site may be recycled, safe disposal methods require most materials to be incinerated or landfilled. All collected waste is disposed of using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency approved methods.
If you are not a Marion County resdient, please click here to learn more about your county's solid waste management district and HHW program.
