Be a public safety advocate!
The City of Indianapolis Department of Public Safety (DPS) is excited to announce the next session of the DPS Citizens Academy.

The mission of the DPS Citizens Academy is to raise awareness about the difficult and crucial roles the employees of the department fill in order to enhance public safety and quality of life for citizens and visitors of Indianapolis.  Furthermore, the DPS Citizens Academy develops community advocates to help address future challenges in public safety.

The DPS Citizens Academy will run from February 5 – April 18. Participants will cycle through a set of the unique and engaging modules offered by representatives from the Department’s agencies: Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS), Division of Homeland Security (DHS), Division of Animal Care & Control (ACC), Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) and Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD).  In addition, participants will be able to take advantage of exciting ride-a-long opportunities to see first-hand the courageous work performed each day by DPS employees.  This one-of-a-kind experience will provide insights into the Department’s operations and develop champions throughout the community to help address crime and public safety issues in Indianapolis.

The next class will be limited to 30 participants, so submit your application today!  Click here to access the online application.
