The Indianapolis Department of Public Works maintains public infrastructure, manages municipal solid waste collection and ensures a healthy, safe and natural environment. We are committed to providing efficient and effective high quality customer service to the citizens and visitors of Indianapolis.  

A new online tool is now available to allow the public to view, report and check the status of reported street potholes. Indy’s Pothole Viewer is available at www.indy.gov/IndyPotholeViewer and shows all pothole repair requests received by the MAC for the prior six months.​ 

DPW Progress Report to the Public

As a part of the Indianapolis Combined Sewer​ Overflow Consent Decree, the City of Indianapolis has released the Indianapolis Department of Public Works Progress Report to the Public. The report summarizes key accomplishments of the sanitary sewer, storm water, transportation and SustainIndy programs since 2008. Please click here to view the complete report.

Protecting Your Environment

The Department of Public Works monitors and protects the environment in Marion County with help from our residents and visitors. DPW responds to questions and concerns on a number of topics including, but not limited to, air and water pollution, open burning, illegal discharges, and water quality.
