John Barth is an at-large member of the Indianapolis City-County Council representing residents county-wide.

John is a fifth-generation resident of Indianapolis and is past president of the Butler-Tarkington Neighborhood Association (BTNA). John grew up in the mid-north section of the city where he attended grammar school and graduated from Brebeuf High School. John graduated from Regis University with a B.A. in Sociology and the University of Michigan  where he earned a masters in Social Work with a focus in Social Policy and Planning.

John currently serves as the Vice President of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs at a local health plan. Prior to his most recent position, John was Senior Program Officer at the Center for health Care Strategies and Managed Care Director for the State of Indiana’s Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning. For several years John has worked as a site visitor and reviewer for the Innovations in American Government Awards Program at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

John has a long history of community volunteerism. John continues to serve on the board of BTNA along with sitting on the boards of both the Martin Luther King Community Center and Project Home Indy.

John and his wife Jessica have three have three children – Nora, Miles, and Beatrice.
