Mary Moriarty Adams was elected to serve on the City Council in 1987 and continues to serve District 17 on the eastside of Indianapolis. Her council boundaries encompass the east side of Emerson Avenue, the west side of Post Road, the north side of East 10th Street and the South side of East 38th Street. In addition, she has one precinct that comprises neighborhoods that lie west of Ellenberger Parkway West Drive and north of East St. Clair Street.
Mary chooses to focus her efforts as a councilwoman in the area of public safety. She supports numerous initiatives on behalf of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, more especially those that add more police officers, and the Indianapolis Fire Department and those initiatives that add more firefighters, assist with the needs within the countywide court system, the Sheriff's Department, MECA, Forensic Services and other public safety agencies.
She has also worked with the Department of Public Works in order to meet the infrastructure needs of her council district. Those needs comprise the repair and replacement of curb and sidewalks, additional road resurfacing, working to resolve drainage issues, illegal dumping concerns, missed trash pick-up and snow removal efforts.
With years of experience in local governmental groups, Mary Moriarty Adams serves as a democratic precinct committee woman and is a member of the Southside Democrat Club, the Warren Township Democrat Club, and the Chairman's Club. She is a member of Holy Spirit parish. Mary works for the Marion County Assessor and serves the Indianapolis city council as a member of the Public Safety and Criminal Justice Committee, the Public Works Committee, the Economic Development Committee and the Ethics Committee.
