Elected to serve his first term on the City-County Council in 2003, Dane Mahern brings both youth and experience to the Council body.  A lifelong resident of Marion County and a graduate of Ball State University, Dane is concerned about doing all he can to promote government efficiency. 

Dane serves as chairman of the Metropolitan Development Committee, which reviews ordinances and expenses related to zoning, construction, development bonds and projects, and all functions of the City's Department of Metropolitan Development.  Dane also serves as a member of the Public Works and Parks and Recreation Committees.  Currently, he also participates as a member of the Indianapolis Downtown, Inc. grant board for downtown facades. 

Dane represents the 19th District on the near south side of Indianapolis, including such neighborhoods as Mars Hill and Garfield Park.
