Indianapolis - Councilman Ron Gibson requested that the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library give the Council’s Municipal Corporations Committee an update on the Central Library Expansion.

The Library will give an update on the fiscal and operational status of the Indianapolis Marion County Public Library, followed by a tour of the new facility. The Central Library is expected to open in the Spring of 2008.

"It is not the Council’s responsibility to micro manage the activities of the Library, but we must be informed of the Library’s activities and ensure that the taxpayer’s dollars are being spent wisely," said Councilman Gibson.

Councilman Gibson added, "I requested the update and tour because I feel it is important for me and my colleagues to see the progress of the expansion first-hand."
