Identification Needed to Apply for a Marriage License

​Applicants under the age of 18 must have an original certified copy of their birth certificate. Additionally, 17-year-olds must have consent of both their parents. A court order is required for a 16-year-old to marry in Indiana along with consent from both parents.

Applicants that are 18-years-old or older must show one of the following forms of identification at the time of application:

    • valid driver's license
    • current state-issued identification card
    • original certified birth certificate
    • military identification
    • passport
    • consular card

Proof of residency and current address are required in one of the following forms:

    • rental lease
    • valid driver’s license
    • state identification card
    • current utility bill
