Fees

At the time of initial application, the fee is $18 if both applicants or at least one applicant reside in Marion County. For example, if the bride lives in Marion County and the groom lives in Hamilton County, the couple can apply for their marriage license in Hamilton OR Marion County.

If both applicants reside out of state and intend to marry in Marion County, the fee is $60 at the time of initial application.

If both applicants are Indiana residents but do not live in Marion County, you must apply for your marriage license in your home county even if you plan to marry in Marion County. For example, if the bride and groom live in Boone County but plan to marry in downtown Indianapolis, they would need to apply for their license in Boone Count first.

If you are a Marion County resident and plan to marry in another state or country, you will need to research their marriage laws to determine when and how to apply for a marriage license in their jurisdiction as an Indiana marriage license is not transferable to another state.

CASH ONLY PLEASE. No personal checks or money orders will be accepted at the time of application.
