Marion County Clerk’s office supports local food bank
Office food drive gathers nearly 800 items, more than $1000 in contributions
INDIANAPOLIS – This afternoon the Marion County Clerk’s office donated nearly 800 food items to the Midwest Food Bank to help families affected by the recent flooding and tornadoes in central Indiana.
The collection was a result of a week-long food drive initiated by the Clerk’s office and included contributions from other city-county agencies. An additional $1,025 was donated to the food bank to purchase additional items.
“We are so pleased to see city-county employees do their part to help our neighbors in their time of need,” Marion County Clerk Beth White said. “I would especially like to thank the Department of Metropolitan Development and the Office of Corporation Counsel for donating several hundred items to our food drive.”
In addition to the food drive, Clerk’s office staff have organized two bake sales to raise money for the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. The first sale generated nearly $300 in contributions, while the final sale will be held this Friday, June 27.
