Clerk White to join hearts on Valentine’s Day
Annual event held to raise money for the American Heart Association
INDIANAPOLIS – Marion County Clerk Beth White will perform civil marriage ceremonies from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, February 14 to raise money for the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign.For the fifth year in a row, the Clerk’s office will be transformed into a wedding ‘chapel’ for couples in search of a simple civil ceremony on Valentine’s Day. In lieu of an officiant’s fee, couples are asked to make a $50 contribution to the American Heart Association. Since 2007, the event has raised more than $5,500 and 134 couples have been married.Couples must present a valid marriage license to marry. To apply for a marriage license in Marion County, either the bride or the groom must be a resident of the county and show proof of residency. The license fee is $18 for Marion County residents. Hoosier couples living outside Marion County should apply for their license in their home county, even if they intend to marry in Indianapolis.Space is limited.
