Eighth Semester yVote! Results Are In

Marion County Students at 16 High Schools Voted for Their Favorite Candidates

INDIANAPOLIS – Last week Clerk White and her staff concluded the eighth semester of yVote! and are eager to share the results of the mock election.

In all, yVote! visited 16 public, private and charter high schools and registered 285 eligible students to vote in time for the November 6 election. Here is the outcome of the mock election:

D R L
President 1,248 579 165
Senate 1,066 663 236
Governor 965 612 369

“From the students this year I’ve seen excited reactions and enthusiastic interest in the upcoming election, especially when they were able to ‘vote’ for their favorite candidate,” Clerk White said. “I hope they carry this enthusiasm with them in future elections.”

The award-winning yVote! program educates Marion County high school students about the electoral process to ensure young voters are election ready. Each presentation includes a mock election using special yVote! demonstration ballots and students cast their ‘vote’ on the county’s actual voting equipment. Since its launch in 2008, Clerk White has visited 27 unique public, private and charter high schools and more than 2,500 eligible students have registered to vote.
