Clerk White to join hearts on Valentine’s Day

Annual event held to raise money for the American Heart Association

INDIANAPOLIS – On Valentine’s Day, Marion County Clerk Beth White will continue her annual tradition of performing wedding ceremonies to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Couples who desire a simple civil ceremony or vow renewal can visit the Clerk’s office between 10AM and 3PM on Thursday, February 14. In lieu of an officiant’s fee, couples are asked to make a voluntary $50 contribution to the American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign. Space is limited and reservations are encouraged.

Couples must present a valid marriage license to be married on Valentine’s Day. To apply for a marriage license in Marion County, either the bride or the groom must be a resident and show proof of residency. The marriage license fee is $18 for Marion County residents. Hoosier couples living outside Marion County should apply for their license in their home county, even if they intend to marry in Indianapolis.

In the seven years of hosting this event, Clerk White has raised nearly $12,000 for the ‘Go Red’ campaign and performed 267 ceremonies. Couples can make a reservation by calling (317) 327-4739. For more information, visit www.indy.gov/clerk.
