Current Civil Records

Current civil records (those that are still open or disposed within the current year) will most likely be found in the court room where they are assigned. Here’s how you know which court your file is located by using a cause number:

  • Example: 49D011101MI000000
    • 49 = Indiana county code (49=Marion County)
    • D01 = court room
    • 11 = year
    • 01 = month
    • MI = type of civil case
    • 000000 = short cause number

Use the court room information (D01 in our example) to cross reference the court’s contact page.

Online Access

All new and active civil cases can be viewed through the state's website - mycase.in.gov. Closed civil cases will continue to be available through indygov.bizfor a nominal fee.
