Volunteer Opportunities

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office benefits from the assistance of many individual volunteers, community agencies and programs to provide helpful programs and re-entry resources for the inmates in our custody. Persons wishing to serve as volunteers must submit an application, undergo a criminal background check and attend an orientation.

Volunteers are required to have five years “clear” of any legal obligations involving arrest, conviction, probation, parole or other sentence for any misdemeanor or felony. Personal or violent crimes will exclude a person from being a volunteer.

Those interested in volunteering with a currently participating group or bringing in a new program may call the Program Department at (317)327-1729 or (317) 327-2555 (program director).
