Communty Justice Academy

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office will host the fifth annual Community Justice Academy in September and October 2015. Designed to educate and engage residents about crime prevention strategies and the criminal justice process, the Academy builds on the work of the Community Prosecution Division of the Marion County Prosecutor's Office by offering sessions that are tailored to areas of citizen interest and specific community needs.

2015 Sessions

Week 1 (Sep. 28): Mental Illness and the Justice System

Presented by Barbara Cook Crawford, Marion Superior Court Judge; and Kathy Infanger, Deputy Prosecutor

Week 2 (Oct. 5): Neglect of Children: Exposing the Epidemic

Presented by Dr. Brandie Oliver, Butler University Assistant Professor Shawn Bush, Lawrence Township Director of Student Services; and Sandy Runkle, Director of Programs with Prevent Child Abuse Indiana

Week 3 (Oct. 12): Social Media and Criminal Prosecution

Presented by Steven Schafer, IMPD Detective-Sergeant; and Tiffany McCormick, Assistant U.S Attorney

Week 4 (Oct. 19): Hate Crimes

Presented by Terry Curry, Marion County Prosecutor; and Miriam Zeidman, Midwest Civil Rights Counsel with the Anti-Defamation League
