How can I make my property safer?

The Marion County Prosecutor's Office offers free property crime prevention programs to residents and businesses in Marion County. Based on the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CEPTD) discipline, deputy prosecutors and staff receive training and nationally recognized certification on preventive measures that can be implemented at any property.

Safety By Design: Burglary Prevention Presentation

Free educational presentations are available for any community group, including neighborhood associations, apartment communities and business owners, on reducing the risk of becoming a burglary or property crime victim.

Safety By Design: Property Audit

Free audits are available for residences, neighborhoods, small businesses, rental properties, and apartment communities.
Experts will conduct onsite audits and  provide property specific information on deterring criminal behavior through physical design elements, such as lighting, landscaping and parking lot safety.

Audits are conducted by experts certified in the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) approach.

Safety By Design: Landlord Training

Designed to assist rental property owners and managers keep properties safe and free of illegal activity. Each seminar is an eight hour course providing information on a variety of topics including applicant screening, warning signs of drug and gang activity, and property maintenance to reduce and prevent crime.
