The Major Felony Division is responsible for representing indigent citizens who are charged with A, B, or C level felonies.

Each major felony court is staffed with at least one full-time public defender attorney and paralegal as well as three (3) to six (6) contractual public defenders. Our contract public defenders bring the best of the private bar to public defense.

Each full-time public defender handles roughly 100 cases a year. The public defender assigned to your case will make arrangements to meet w/you prior to your first court date.

If a client has an urgent matter before his court date and cannot reach his public defender immediately, he should leave a message via voice mail or with the court paralegal. This is often the best means of getting in touch with your PD. To find the public defenders or paralegals assigned to a specific court, choose Attorneys by Court or Paralegals by Court.

Our attorneys and paralegals work diligently to insure each and every client receive the quality representation this office strives to provide. If a concern arises regarding a member of this division, please direct those concerns to the immediate supervisor listed above.
