Departments

Records Department

The records department researches documents that have been filed. This office cannot determine ownership of property nor do genealogical research. Employees cannot do lien searches for customers. The public is welcome to come in to do a search themselves on our terminals with our detailed instruction sheets available. The records go back to 1823 with Land Grants dated prior to 1823.

Recording Desk

The front counter or recording desk is where documents are taken for recording as public record and serves as the first stop for all documents brought into the office. The recording desk staff will check documents for all requirements.

UCC Department

The Uniform Commercial Code department (UCC) is where all UCC documents are recorded and searched.

Releasing Department

The releasing department is the last stop for all documents to check for proper cross- referencing in the index of records.

Scanning Department

The scanning department is where all documents that have passed through the front counter go to be scanned into the computer imaging system. All originals are then mailed back to the customer. The office does not retain paper copies of recorded instruments.

Data Entry Department

The data entry department takes the images of the documents and puts the vital information into an index. The public and the records department then use this to research recorded documents.
