Marion County Townships, Indiana

There is a small claims court in every township in the County.  The jurisdiction of the court is limited to those cases where the claim for damages does not exceed $6,000.  Except for cases between a landlord and tenant, a case may be filed in any township small claims court within the county.  Cases involving landlord and tenant disputes must be filed in the township where the property is located. 

Small Claims Courts are not a part of the Superior Court or the Circuit Court, although the Circuit Court Judge is to lend aid and assistance when requested by the Small Claims Courts. 

The voters of the township where the Court exists elect judges for a term of 4 years.
