Marion County Small Claims Courts
There is a small claims court in every township in Marion County. 
The jurisdiction of the court is limited to those cases where the claim for damages does not exceed $8,000

Proper venue for a case filed in a Marion County Small Claims Court created pursuant to I.C. 33-34-1-2 shall be in the township where the transaction or occurrence took place, where the obligation was incurred or is to be performed, or where a defendant resides or is employed at the time the complaint is filed.

Cases involving landlord and tenant disputes must be filed in the township where the property is located. 
Small Claims Courts are not a part of the Superior Court or the Circuit Court, although the Circuit Court Judge is to lend aid and assistance to the Small Claims Courts. 
The voters of the township where the Court exists, elect judges for a term of 4 years.
