Excellence in Education Award
Purpose: Mayor Peterson created the Mayor's Excellence in Education to recognize students, teachers, groups, and schools whose excellence merits recognition and whose example will inspire others.

Besides offering possible models for other school systems, the highlighting of successful programs creates an opportunity to recognize administrators, teachers, parents, and students whose efforts might otherwise go unnoticed.
