"Carrier’s decision represents the worst of a wrongheaded business philosophy that privileges cost over quality, and puts profits before people. In response, we owe the hardworking families affected by this terrible choice a community response that represents the best that Indianapolis can offer.
I have asked my administration to direct the full force of city government toward a Carrier Task Force that will act as a one-stop clearinghouse for families to receive information and assistance. In addition, I have ordered a full investigation into any tax dollars offered to the company and we will aggressively seek to clawback those incentives.
Indianapolis is strongest when it stands together as one city, and it is time for all of us to stand with our neighbors who work for Carrier. By convening nonprofit and philanthropic partners, as well as local, state, and federal officials, I am confident we can provide tools to these workers and their families during this difficult period."
