The Mayor’s Office of the Front Porch Alliance is proud to work with faith-based and community organizations that serve Marion County residents.

The Front Porch Alliance focuses on building partnerships with community groups to improve the quality of life within our neighborhoods.  This is accomplished by educating organizations and cultivating ideas to help them grow and expand their positive influence in our community.

Community Service Awards
 
  
The Mayor’s Community Service Awards  will once again recognize Indianapolis citizens for their volunteer contributions and commitment to community service. This award is a prestigious honor bestowed by Mayor Ballard to the community's best stewards of volunteerism.
 
Marion County residents can be nominated in one of several categories including: Arts, Business, Church, Special Needs, Education, Elderly, Media, Health/Hospitals,  Neighborhood, Philanthropy, Sports, and Youth Services. Please see the attached Nomination Form for eligibility and criteria requirements. 
 
Award nominations are open to those residing in Indianapolis/Marion County. If you would like to nominate a candidate, please complete the attached form, and return it to FrontPorch@indy.gov no later than Friday, June 7, 2013.

Grow- N- Indy
 
 
The Front Porch Alliance has launched a pilot gardening initiative called Grow-N-Indy. The program helps increase Indy residents' access to nutritious food and to encourage light activity.
The 2013 Grow-N-Indy goal is to create 15 new community produce gardens that generate a total of 3,000 pounds of produce, with 50% of the produce delivered to food pantries, in five Indianapolis neighborhoods:
  • Haughville
  • United North West Area (UNWA)
  • Near Eastside
  • Martindale-Brightwood
  • Far Eastside
