Indianapolis Sister Cities International

In honor of the forming of Indy’s newest Sister Cities, an Indianapolis Sister Cities Celebration event was held on September 26, 2011. The event commemorated the establishment and continuation of Indianapolis’s eight Sister City committees, thanked committee volunteers who are the core of the Sister Cities program, created awareness of the program by gathering potential volunteers and stakeholders, and developed partners and supporters to help fund Indianapolis Sister Cities International initiatives. The celebration, held outdoors in the City Market, also featured international cuisines, world music, ethnic booths, and great networking opportunities.

The annual Indianapolis International Festival is Indiana’s largest and oldest pan-ethnic celebration. The event showcases our city's ethnic diversity, celebrates unique ethnic traditions, and encourages cultural exchange. Indianapolis Sister Cities International is a participant in the festival, and has an information booth about ISCI and its initiatives.

Indianapolis Sister Cities participated in the Mayor’s Citywide Prayer Rally on May 19th, 2011. Along with over 20 faith leaders, each Sister City provided a prayer in the native language of our international partner city. The Mayor’s Citywide Prayer Rally is organized by the Mayor’s Front Porch Alliance. The rally is held to celebrate the diversity of faiths in Indianapolis as well as to promote collaboration which exists among our faith communities.
