Unsafe Buildings Program

Funded primarily with CDBG funding, the Unsafe Building Program is a continuing project to eliminate slum and blight by removing vacant and unsafe buildings from Marion County neighborhoods. Measurable outcomes for this project are the number of structures demolished and boarded by the city or property owners. Orders to repair are also issued to force property owners to repair structures on their property.

The goal of the program is to continue to remove the potential hazards of vacant and unsafe structures in Indianapolis while compelling property owners to repair and properly maintain their structures. Statistics for the program are compiled on both a monthly and annual basis.

To report an unsafe building, contact the Health and Hospital Corporation at 317.221.2143.
